Form Setting

  1. Review drawings to ensure all required survey is in place
  2. Install a curb pin so that the outside of the pin (farthest away from the survey hub) is set to the offset marked on the survey stake
  3. Transfer the hub elevation including any cut/fill to the curb pin and mark with a permanent marker
  4. Repeat the process on all survey points in the desired area
  5. Tie string line to the marked elevation and run to the next pin, repeat until the end of the area ensuring that the string line remains tight
  6. Place the face of the appropriate form (side without clamps) against the outside of the pin, and face the plywood joint away from the direction that you intend to run.
  7. Add formwork down the line, attaching forms with the plywood joints using 2” coated nails. Install the curb pins into the clamps until you reach the end of the line, do not set the wedge
  8. Raise forms so that the top of the form matches the height of the string line. Adjust forms for plumb and close the wedge
  9. To set the back form, first, check the drawing for width spec. Measure off the face of the form back towards the survey stake and set another pin so that the measurement to the outside of the pin matches the width spec
  10. Mark the elevation on the pin including the structure for a curb or with the slope on flatwork.
  11. Repeat steps 4-8 for the backside
  12. Eyeball the form line and adjust as necessary
  13. Install bracing to ensure formwork holds place, and ensure that nails into any top bracing (bracing that spans over top of an area requiring finishing) are not completely set so that they can be easily removed during finishing
